Keywords:
Thailand, Chinese, Cultural associations, Cultural functions, Development strategyAbstract
The Chinese community is a product of specific historical conditions. For a long time, it has played a vital role in consolidating the overseas Chinese community, inheriting Chinese culture, and preserving the ethnic attributes of the Chinese nation. However, with economic development and social changes, the traditional functions of Chinese communities have changed. In Chinese society, the political functions have weakened, and the cultural processes have become increasingly prominent. This has become an important part of the influence of Chinese communities in the development of Thai-Chinese communities. Therefore, there is a need to re-understand and evaluate its importance and role. Based on this background, the paper puts forward a better understanding and suggestions for developing the cultural functions of Thai cultural associations.
