Problems and Obstacles of Chinese Language Teaching and Learning Management of Schools in Lop Buri, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, and Saraburi Province and Development Guidelines

The present study attempted to study problems and obstacles of Chinese language teaching and learning management of schools’ conditions in Lop Buri, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, and Saraburi Province and give suggestions for guidelines for development. The nature of the research is research for development. The samples were 44 schools. The instrument used in the research was a research questionnaire created to collect data in 5 areas, namely management, Curriculum development, the instructor and the teaching and learning process and the state of problems or obstacles that the school needs to solve and interview forms for collecting data. The findings revealed as follows: Considering towards the problem and barrier affected the schools’ development of teaching Chinese, questionnaire respondents and Chinese teachers unanimously agreed that the “learners” was the most problematic aspect. The quantitative problem was reflected in a large number of the students in the class. Also, the qualitative problem was that the students did not successfully bring Chinese into their real-life communication. There was no enthusiasm and too shy to speak Chinese. Moreover, the students’ Chinese corpus did not match with the basic education core curriculum. In addition, the present research proposed the guidelines for developing learning and teaching Chinese. The guidelines were divided into 4 main aspects which were 1) policy management, 2) curriculum development, 3) teachers and teaching, and 4) students. Each of aspects suggested the development based on the participation of teachers, students, and school administrators. The main priority of the development was aimed at teachers and students. Moreover, the continuous development guidelines were provided for schools in order to be more efficient in learning and teaching Chinese.
