“Wuyuan Culture” is one aspect of Chinese culture that has been preserved and passed on to the present, not only in China but also among Chinese communities abroad. The Wuyuan culture describes the existence of subtle relationships and emphasizes the tie of the overseas Chinese to ‘remain’ consistently Chinese even though they are living abroad. As over 15 percent of overseas Chinese live in Thailand, it is expected that Wuyuan culture will exert influence over this extensive community. This research will explore this influence of the Wuyuan culture on overseas Chinese in Thailand. Results indicate that in terms of life, belief, religion, society, and business in Thailand, the culture of Wuyuan has been a central mechanism or method for living a successful life, most notably in its role in creating a Chinese community network among overseas Chinese in Thailand.
