The Main Concept of Dream of the Red Chamber

Abstract

This paper introduces five renowned Chinese scholars in Hóngxué or the studies on Hónglóumèng, one of the most famous classical Chinese novels. It focuses on the main concept of the novel analyzed by Wáng Guówéi, Cài Yuánpéi, Hú Shì, Zhōu Rŭchāng and Féng Qiáng. The author of the paper agrees with Féng Qiáng who said that Hónglóumèng is a literary work with political implications, but it certainly is not a work on politics.
