Evaluation of The Mathematics Talent Development Camp Project for Student Excellence at Yothin Bamrung School Under the Office of Nakhon Si Thammarat Secondary Education Service Area

Abstract
This study evaluated the Mathematics Talent Development Camp Project toward excellence at Yothinbamrung School under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Nakhon Si Thammarat. The purposes of this evaluation research were to: 1) assess intrinsic merit, 2) examine progress, 3) evaluate summative outcomes, and 4) determine overall success. The respondents consisted of 89 individuals, including administrators, project staff, and students participating in the camp. Additionally, 10 key informants provided qualitative data. Research instruments included questionnaires and interview forms. Data were collected at three stages: before, during, and after the project implementation. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis.
The results revealed that: 1) the intrinsic merit evaluation was at a high level (= 3.99), with the highest mean in project goals and indicators, and the lowest in project measurement and evaluation; 2) the progress evaluation was at a high level (
= 4.45), with the highest mean in personnel and budget quality, and the lowest in students’ knowledge, skills, and desirable characteristics; 3) the summative evaluation was at a moderate level (
= 3.32), with the highest mean in project planning and the lowest in project monitoring; and 4) the success evaluation was at a high level (
= 4.15), with the highest mean in students’ desirable characteristics and the lowest in satisfaction with camp activities. Qualitative findings indicated that students demonstrated improved mathematical achievement and potential, enhanced thinking and collaboration skills, and the ability to apply knowledge in real-life contexts. These findings suggest that the project was effective and contributed to the sustainable development of students’ mathematical competencies.
