Buddhist Political Leadership of Local Executives in Problem Solution of Community Waste in Hua Fai Sub–District Administrative Organization at Sungmen District in Phrae Province

Abstract

This research article aims to (1) study the level of political leadership of local executives in addressing community waste issues, (2) investigate the factors affecting the political leadership of local executives in solving community waste problems, and (3) present guidelines for promoting Sammappadhāna 4 principles to the Buddhist political leadership of local executives in addressing community waste issues in the Hua Fai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Sung Men District, Phrae Province. This study employs a mixed-methods research approach as follows: (1) The quantitative research utilized a survey method with a sample population of 382 people and (2) the qualitative research involved in-depth interviews with 10 key informants. The study's results revealed that 1) the overall level of political leadership among local executives was high, and Sammappadhāna 4 principles to the political leadership of local executives in addressing community waste issues was also rated high overall. 2) The factors influencing the political leadership of local executives in solving community waste problems indicated that the Four Principles of Right Action significantly affected the political leadership of local executives in all four areas at a statistical significance level of 0.05. 3) Promoting Sammappadhāna 4 principles to the Buddhist political leadership of local executives in addressing community waste issues showed that (1) Saṁvara-padhāna, local executives created understanding among the public regarding community waste problems, (2) Pahāna-padhāna, there were campaigns for household waste separation based on the 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), (3) Bhāvanā-padhāna, continuous public relations efforts were made to promote waste separation and proper waste disposal through various media, and (4) Anurak Khanā–padhāna, measures, rules, and regulations were established for community members to follow.
