A Study of Analytical Thinking Skills and Academic Achievement in History Through the Method of Cooperative Learning for First-Year Secondary School Students at Phiman Phitthayasarn School, Satun Province

Abstract

This research article aims to (1) compare the analytical thinking skills before and after the implementation of cooperative learning among Mathayom 1, and (2) compare the learning achievement in the subject of history before and after the implementation of cooperative learning among Mathayom 1. The sample group consisted of 40 students from Class 1 at Phiman Phitthayasarn School, selected through Cluster Sampling. The research tools used were 1) cooperative learning lesson plans, 2) the assessment of analytical thinking skills, a subjective test, and 3) the assessment of achievement on the development of the Southeast Asian region, multiple choice test with 20 questions. The statistical methods used for data analysis included the Mean (equation), standard deviation (SD), and Dependent t-test.


The research findings revealed that the students who received instruction through the Cooperative Learning showed significantly higher Analytical thinking skills and Academic achievement in history after learning compared to before learning, with statistical significance at the .05 level.
