Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: 1) investigate the current conditions and needs for developing a local curriculum on Tai Yo cultural heritage; 2) develop and evaluate the efficiency of the curriculum based on the 70/70 criterion; and 3) compare the learning achievement of Prathomsuksa 3 students before and after the implementation of the curriculum. The sample consisted of two phases. The needs assessment phase involved 23 participants, including school administrators, teachers, and local scholars, selected through purposive sampling. The curriculum implementation phase involved 26 Prathomsuksa 3 students from Ban Akat School, Akat Amnuai District, Sakon Nakhon Province, selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments included interview forms, a curriculum suitability evaluation form, lesson plans, and a learning achievement test. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and paired samples t-test. The research findings revealed that:

  1. 1. The current situation highlights the need to integrate local knowledge into educational management, covering five key domains: local history, ways of life and food, traditional clothing wisdom, language and literature, and cultural traditions.
  2. The developed curriculum demonstrated a very high level of curriculum-objective congruence (IOC = 0.89) and achieved an efficiency score of 80.44/76.80, exceeding the established criterion of 70/70.
  3. Students’ posttest achievement scores (M = 23.04) were significantly higher than their pretest scores (M = 13.85) at the .05 level (t = 15.28, p < .05).

The findings indicate that the developed Tai Yoi cultural heritage local curriculum is of high quality and effectively enhances students' learning achievement.
