The role and development of civil society networks in election participation in Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the role of civil society networks in promoting electoral participation in Chaiyaphum Province, 2) study the level of participation of civil society networks in the election of Chaiyaphum Province, and 3) develop the role of civil society networks in promoting participation in the electoral process of Chaiyaphum Province. The research design uses a combined quantitative and qualitative research methodology as a research framework. This study studies the population and samples of civil society networks from various community organizations in Chaiyaphum Province and relevant persons in Chaiyaphum Province. Quantitative data analysis uses basic statistics such as mean, standard deviation, and percentage, and qualitative analysis by interviews. The research results found that 1. The role of civil society networks in promoting electoral participation in Chaiyaphum Province found that the role of civil society networks in promoting electoral participation can be divided into 3 stages: 1) Pre-election stage The average score was 3.01 (SD=1.112) 2) during the election stage, the average score was 2.81 (SD=1.133) 3) after the election stage, the average score was 2.88 (SD=1.305). Overall, the average score was 2.90 (SD=1.183), which was at a moderate level. 2. The level of participation in the election of the civil society network towards the participation in the election of Chaiyaphum Province was divided into 3 levels as follows: 1) The level of participation in the initial election, the average score was 3.14 (S.D.=1.318) 2) The level of participation in the intermediate election, the average score was 2.79 (S.D.=1.357) 3) The level of participation in the advanced election. The average score was 1.63 (S.D.=1.069), with an overall average score of 2.52 (SD=1.248), which is at a moderate level. 3. Guidelines for developing the role of civil society networks in participation in the election process of Chaiyaphum Province, 5 main issues: 1) Should develop and promote learning and understanding about elections. 2) Create cooperation between civil society networks and the government sector in creating a role to promote participation in elections. 3) Promote transparency and monitor elections. 4) Role in proposing policies or problems to candidates or elected representatives. 5) Monitoring the work to create responsibility for the duties of elected representatives.
