Abstract
The Self-Development in Dance Skills in The Role of a Contemporary Dancer Following The Multiple Intelligence Theory: A Case Study of “Whisper II”. The objective, utilizing the practice as research method, was to identify deficiencies in dance and enhance the capabilities of the contemporary dancer through the performance of 'Whisper II' with Visakha Saeui, MUPA Dance Troupe Company, by examining literature, documents, and online resources, conducting interviews, practising, taking notes, and analyzing data through the theory of multiple intelligences across three domains: Bodily-Kinesthetic Musical intelligence and Self-understanding intelligence, including a total duration of two semesters.
The study findings identified three further deficiencies in the researcher. 1) Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence in contemporary dance, enhanced via practice and the comprehension of dance theory principles. 2) Musical intelligence is characterized by bodily movements that are discordant with the beat or melody of music. Enhanced and refined by the practice of auditory comprehension and the analysis of song structures, including melodies, rhythms, and non-rhythmic music. 3) Intrapersonal intelligence, the researcher acknowledges that their physical capabilities include some restrictions that may hinder their suitability for executing the modern performance of “Whisper II”; hence, more improvement is required to enhance muscular strength and spinal flexibility.
