THE DEVELOPMENT OF READING COMPREHENSION ABILITY OF MATHAYOMSUKSA 1 STUDENTS IN BAAN GONG PRACHANUKUL SCHOOL BY USING SQ4R TEACHING MODEL

Abstract

This research article objectives were 1) to develop the reading comprehension ability of Mathayomsuksa 1 students at Ban Kong Prachanukul School. by using the SQ4R teaching model with an average of 70/70 percent of proficiency. Grade 1, semester 1, academic year 2022, Ban Kong Prachanukul School Nong Ruea District The research tools were 1) a learning management plan with reading comprehension development steps, 2) a questionnaire on students' opinions toward reading comprehension using the SQ4R teaching style. Statistics were used for analysis. Data using basic statistics, namely mean, standard deviation and percentage.

The research findings were as follows: 1) The development of reading comprehension ability of Mathayomsuksa 1 students using the SQ4R teaching model with an average of 80% passed the criteria. The average reading comprehension score was 83.93 percent, which was higher than the required criterion of 80 percent, and 20 students, representing 100 percent, passed the criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the innovation of the SQ4R teaching model helps develop the students' ability to read the main points through the criteria of 80. The SQ4R teaching style found that the students had the highest opinion that they had done it. In conclusion, the students had the highest level of opinion on this innovative learning method.
