THE EFFECTS OF USING SCIENCE PROJECT ACTIVITY PACKAGE IN THE TOPIC OF PLANT LIFE PROCESSES ON SCIENTIFIC CREATIVITY AND SCIENTIFIC PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITIES OF GRADE 7 STUDENTS AT BAN NONG SAENG SCHOOL IN KALASIN PROVINCE
Keywords:
Science project activity set, Scientific creativity, Scientific problem-solving abilityAbstract
This research aimed to achieve four objectives: (1) to compare the scientific creativity of Grade 7 students before and after learning through a science project activity set on “Plant Life Processes”; (2) to compare the scientific creativity of students taught using the science project activity set with that of students taught through conventional instruction; (3) to compare the scientific problem-solving ability of students before and after learning through the science project activity set; and (4) to compare the scientific problem-solving ability of students who learned using the science project activity set with that of students who received conventional instruction.
This was Quasi-Experimental Design research. Population was 80 grade 7 students in 4 classrooms studying in the first semester of the 2024 academic year at Ban Nong Saeng School, Kalasin Province. The sample consisted of 40 grade 7 students in 2 classrooms (20 students per class) at Ban Nong Saeng School, Kalasin Province, obtained by cluster random sampling during the first semester of the 2024 academic year. One class was randomly assigned as the experimental group (learning with the science project activity set), and the other as the control group (learning with conventional instruction). The research instruments included: (1) a science project activity set on plant life processes; (2) project-based lesson plans using the activity set; (3) conventional lesson plans for the control group; (4) a scientific creativity test; and (5) a scientific problem-solving ability test. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
The results revealed that: (1) students’ scientific creativity after learning with the science project activity set was significantly higher than before learning (p < .05); (2) the scientific creativity of students who learned via the science project activity set was significantly higher than that of students who received conventional instruction (p < .05);
