FACTORS INFLUENCING THE SELECTION OF CAT CAFÉ SERVICES IN BANGKOK AND METROPOLITAN AREAS

At present, there is a growing trend of dining and enjoying desserts and beverages in stylish cafés with a pleasant atmosphere, where people prefer to gather with friends rather than meeting in restaurants within shopping malls. At the same time, more young people are living in condominiums, which often have restrictions on keeping pets due to limited space and noise concerns. Similarly, many apartments prohibit pets entirely, making it difficult for people to have their own pets.
This has led to the concept of combining cafés with pets—creating a fusion between the restaurant business and the pet business—by offering a cozy, home-like atmosphere where customers can enjoy food and drinks while interacting with animals. Pet cafés have quickly gained popularity, especially cat cafés, as cats have become one of the most popular pets. Evidence of this can be seen in the increasing number of followers on cat-related social media pages, such as “Toon Hua Khong Bao” (My Boss’s Head) and Kingdom of Tiger, which have over three million followers. This indicates that Thai people are showing greater interest in cats as pets.
The objective of this research is to study the factors influencing the choice of cat café services in Bangkok and its metropolitan areas. The study examines demographic factors—age, gender, marital status, occupation, and monthly income—as well as marketing mix factors (7Ps): Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical Evidence. The findings aim to serve as guidelines for improving and developing products and services of cat cafés to better meet consumer needs, and to provide data for future research.
The population in this study consists of individuals who have visited cat cafés and reside in Bangkok and its surrounding areas. Data were collected using 404 questionnaires.
