Abstract

This article aims to: 1 examine the historical development and social functions of Qinhuai Lanterns. 2 analyze inheritance changes and challenges before and after heritage designation. 3 propose sustainable strategies based on cultural self-awareness. Types of research: mixed-methods approach. Study information from: literature review, questionnaires, in-depth interviews with inheritors, and field observations. How to analyze data: thematic analysis, statistical methods, and data triangulation. The research results found that: Qinhuai Lanterns serve multiple social functions as living heritage; seasonality, regional limits and inheritor shortage persist despite heritage status benefits; a digitalization-diversification-clustering strategy enables sustainable development.
