LOCAL WISDOM MODEL OF TRADITIONAL HERBAL MEDICINE PRACTITIONERS IN TAK PROVINCE

This research has the following objectives: 1. To study the local wisdom of traditional herbal healers in Tak Province; 2. To study the characteristics and processes of traditional herbal healers’ wisdom in Tak Province; and 3. To study the form of traditional herbal healers’ wisdom. This is a qualitative research. The sample consisted of 9 traditional herbal healers representing each district in Tak Province. The researchers used in-depth interviews. Data obtained from data recording, transcription, and photography were categorized into categories as the researchers had identified. Data was then re-examined to ensure completeness and reliability through triangulation.
Research results (1) The status of traditional herbal medicine wisdom in Tak Province has its roots in inheritance from ancestors through learning and accumulating experience, which uses local wisdom to treat symptoms or cure diseases of villagers in the community with local herbs and spells according to the different expertise of the traditional medicine practitioners. (2) The characteristics and processes of traditional herbal medicine wisdom in Tak Province are inherited from ancestors, learning from textbooks and experts by bringing the characteristics of important local medicinal plants with properties through a simple and uncomplicated process to treat symptoms or cure diseases of villagers in the community. And (3) The form of traditional herbal medicine wisdom in Tak Province has a form of using medicine to treat symptoms or cure diseases inherited from ancestors, using herbs to treat symptoms or cure physical diseases and using spells to treat the mind, including herbal medicine, decoctions, pills, and ointments.
