This research aimed to 1) investigate the essential needs for safety management in extended opportunity schools and 2) explore the approaches to safety management in these schools. The study population consisted of 35 school administrators and 35 teachers appointed as general administration supervisors from the Phichit Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, totaling 70 participants. Data was collected using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of .968. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, and ranking of the need importance index (PNImodified), as well as content analysis.
Results revealed that:
- The overall need importance index for safety management was moderate (PNImodified = .32). When examining specific components, the suppression component had the highest need importance index (PNImodified = .42), followed by prevention (PNImodified = .35), and the lowest was cultivation (PNImodified = .21).
- The safety management approaches were aligned with the PDCA management model. Schools implemented planning, execution, and evaluation in safety management, including developing student support systems, improving school safety curricula, and coordinating with networks for providing psychological support and recovery to students.
