Abstract

This research aimed to develop a singing learning package for elderly learners enrolled in the short-course curriculum at Samut Prakan Polytechnic College who were studying a singing subject, and to measure their learning achievement in knowledge and singing skills before and after using the activity package. The population in this study consisted of 20 elderly learners enrolled in the 158th short-course singing class at Samut Prakan Polytechnic College. The entire population was used in the study. The research employed an action research methodology. The research instruments included the singing learning activity package, a knowledge achievement test, and a singing skill assessment form. Data were analyzed using mean (𝑥̄), standard deviation (S.D.), and dependent sample t-test. The results showed that: 1) The developed singing learning activity package for the elderly was appropriate for instructional use. 2) The post-test knowledge scores ( = 13.21, S.D =3.78) were significantly higher than the pre-test scores ( = 24.68, S.D = 4.28) at the .05 level, indicating that the singing activity program significantly improved the participants' knowledge; and the posttest singing skills scores ( = 14.36, S.D = 3.02) were significantly higher than the pre-test scores ( = 26.05, S.D = 3.27) at the .05 level, indicating that the program significantly improved the participants' singing skills.
