A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF PREACHER’S TEACHING STYLES IN 4TH BUDDHIST TEACHING METHOD FOR TEACHING THE ART OF SPEAKING

Abstract

This research article aims to achieve the following objectives: 1) To compare the presentation techniques, storytelling methods, and persuasive language utilized by speakers of Buddhist sermons in accordance with the four principles of Buddhist teaching. 2)To integrate these sermon delivery methods into classroom instruction and serve as exemplary models for effective speaking that leaves a lasting impression or inspires the audience. The research adopts a qualitative approach, employing document analysis and presenting the findings in a descriptive analytical format (Documentary Content Analysis and Analytical Description). The data analyzed is derived from the sermons delivered by five Buddhist speakers.

The findings reveal that : 1) Each speaker possesses unique techniques in delivering sermons based on the four principles of Buddhist teaching, such as the use of thought-provoking questions and contemporary narratives to stimulate interest and encourage audience participation, resulting in effective and memorable sermons. 2)The methods of sermon delivery can be adapted for use in classroom instruction. Initiating lessons with relevant questions and utilizing modern examples can enhance understanding, create a welcoming atmosphere, engage students, and facilitate meaningful and practical learning experiences.
