The objective of this research is to study the work and problems of the leaders of the elder club in caring for bed-ridden elders in the community, using qualitative research methodology. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 10 leaders of an elder club in Samut Prakan Province who had been members of the elder club for at least 1 year. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis based on the study objectives to summarize findings and theoretical integration. The results of the study showed that the work of the leaders of the elder club consisted of 5 steps, namely,
1) Policy/structural planning step: determining the annual policy on target groups and budget, defining duties and responsibilities by area, and allocating budget; 2) Personnel determination step: organizing personnel into 2 teams: the leader’s team and the network team; 3) Coordination step: coordinating within the club and with other networks; 4) Operation step: surveying and visiting homes, and providing assistance; and 5) Reporting and evaluation step: reporting work results at monthly meetings and evaluating work results through interviews. There were 2 major problems concerning the operation of the elder club: budget problems and data recording problems.
