Abstract

This academic article aims to present the impact of online learning on students' mental health, using an approach that analyses and synthesizes data from relevant textbooks and scholarly papers. The study reveals that online education is becoming a popular choice in the digital age. Nonetheless, learning through this mode could potentially negatively affect learners' mental health, encompassing feelings of stress, anger, and loneliness. These fluctuating emotions can lead to mental health issues, including a loss of social interactions, feelings of isolation, and loneliness resulting from the absence of traditional in-person contact. These are significant factors that can adversely affect mental health. To manage these issues and prevent psychological impacts of online learning, proper study schedules, creating a balance between education and daily life, using appropriate technology and online learning platforms, and maintaining mental and physical health are critical. The support and understanding from teachers and parents are also crucial elements in fostering success in online learning, which could alleviate mental health issues and emotional instability. Online learning has become a part of current educational transformations for various reasons such as convenience, safety, or special situations like pandemics. Therefore, appropriate management is essential to reduce potential negative impacts on mental health arising from online learning.
