The role of community leaders in village fund management, a case study of Ban Nong Ya Ma, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Roi Et Province

Abstract

This research is a qualitative research with 3 objectives : 1. To study the role of community leaders in managing village funds, 2. To analyze problems and obstacles in the role of community leaders in managing village funds, and 3. To suggest solutions to problems and obstacles in the role of community leaders in managing village funds. This is a qualitative research using in-depth interviews with 5 target groups : 1. Community president, 2. Community vice president, 3. Community committee, 4. People, and  5. Village sages. The results of the study on the role of community leaders in managing village funds found that community leaders are capable of managing the community and funds, always taking care of and solving the suffering and promoting the happiness of the villagers. If any villagers are in trouble, they will go to help solve the problems. They are also loved by the villagers in the community. The issues of problems and obstacles in the role of community leaders in managing village funds found that community leaders cannot solve the problems of fund management in some cases, such as selecting the qualifications of villagers who will borrow money or make financial transactions, not checking the qualifications before lending money, corruption problems in the fund, and the issues of solutions and obstacles in the role of community leaders in managing village funds found that community leaders should set any plans or policies for fund management. It is advisable to study the environment and various elements in the community so that they can be adapted to suit the characteristics of the community.
