The Comic Book of the Nakhon Ratchasima Folk Song Legend: The Creation from Oral Folklore to Promote Local Awareness

This research aimed to: 1) develop and evaluate the quality of a comic book based on the Nakhon Ratchasima folk song legend, and 2) examine the target group's community awareness toward the comic book. The study employed a Mixed Methods Research design and was conducted in accordance with the engineering design process. The participants consisted of 3 experts and 25 secondary school students in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, selected through volunteer sampling, totaling 28 participants. The research instruments included a comic book quality evaluation form and a community awareness assessment form. The statistics used for data analysis included the mean and standard deviation.
The research findings revealed that: 1) The created comic book, titled “A nostalgic song” adapted the content of the Nakhon Ratchasima folk song legend to be more contemporary. The quality evaluation by experts indicated a highly appropriate level (μ=3.47, 𝜎=0.88). 2) The target group's local awareness after reading the comic book was found to be at a high level (μ=4.15, 𝜎=1.12).
