Developing Reading Comprehension Ability by Using 5W1H Technique Learning Management and a Reading Comprehension Exercise Set for Students Grade 5, Ban Bu Kwau School

The objective of this research is to: 1) Develop the management of learning 5W1H techniques together with a series of reading comprehension exercises for Grade 5 students to be effective according to the 70/70 criteria. 2) Compare the reading comprehension ability of Grade 5 students before and after school. 3) Study students’ satisfaction with the 5W1H technique learning management together with a series of reading comprehension exercises for Grade 5 students. The research model is experimental research. The target group used was 17 students in Grade 5 of Ban Bu Kwau School in the 1st semester of the 2025 academic year. Tools used: 1) 5 learning management plans, 14 hours. 2) Reading comprehension test 30 questions. 3) 4 sets of reading comprehension exercises. 4) 10 satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used in the data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and effectiveness index.
The results of the research showed that:
- The 5W1H technique learning management with a set of reading comprehension exercises for Grade 5 students had an efficiency (E1/E2) of 74.85/81.37, which met the specified criteria of 70/70.
- Grade 5 students had reading comprehension ability by using 5W1H technique learning management and a set of reading comprehension exercises after school higher than before class, with an effectiveness index value of 0.5297, indicating an increase in development, accounting for 52.97%.
- Grade 5 students were most satisfied with the 5W1H technique learning management with a set of reading comprehension exercises (µ = 4.79, = 15).
