Abstract

The research titled "Building Collaborative Partnerships to Address Iron Deficiency Anemia in Preschool Children Lao Seukok Subdistrict, Lao Seukok District, Ubon Ratchathani Province" aims to analyze the prevalence of anemia among children and explore effective solutions by fostering collaboration with community stakeholders. The study employs participatory action research (PAR) methodology, utilizing in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, field visits, and forums with key stakeholders, including parents, public health officials, retired civil servants, village health volunteers, monks, and other community members. Additionally, relevant documents and previous research studies are examined. The findings indicate that the primary causes of anemia in children are inadequate iron intake, economic constraints, and a lack of nutritional knowledge at the household level, particularly in rural areas where children have limited access to nutritious food. This research integrates collaboration from multiple sectors, including public health officers, schools, village health volunteers (VHVs), monks, and community leaders, to drive sustainable changes within the community. The results reveal that VHVs play a vital role in disseminating nutritional knowledge and promoting the cultivation of iron-rich vegetables within households. Monks contribute by spreading awareness through religious sermons and activities, such as organizing health food stalls and vegetable gardens at temples. Community leaders facilitate coordination and support nutritional initiatives in schools, including the cultivation of vegetables in vacant community spaces to enhance children's access to iron-rich food.The outcomes of the project demonstrate a significant reduction in anemia levels among children, accompanied by improvements in overall health, increased concentration, and better learning development. This study underscores the importance of community collaboration and presents a model for addressing iron deficiency anemia in other regions with similar challenges, offering a sustainable solution for the future.
