Abstract

Abstract

Education in the 21st century is facing rapid changes due to technological advancement, particularly in English language teaching which requires technology integration to provide learners with diverse learning experiences from various sources. English teachers need to develop competencies in knowledge, teaching methods, and technological skills to meet the needs of learners in the digital age. However, English language teaching in Thailand continues to face several challenges, including the shortage of English teachers with specialized qualifications, inequality in access to teaching and learning resources between urban and rural schools, teachers' heavy workloads leaving insufficient time for adequate lesson preparation, and the lack of systematic, high-quality information sources for collecting teaching and learning resources appropriate to the Thai student context. The compilation of e-resource repositories represents one approach to addressing these problems by serving as a comprehensive collection of diverse teaching and learning materials, encompassing digital media, exercises, educational games, and assessment tools that teachers can access at any time. Digital resource repositories not only help reduce teachers' workload in searching for and preparing teaching materials but also promote experience sharing and collaborative learning within online communities. Furthermore, they help reduce educational inequality by providing equal opportunities for teachers and students in all areas to access quality learning resources. The development of effective digital resource repositories requires the integration of various concepts, including the TPACK framework that connects technological knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and content knowledge; the Open Educational Resources (OER) framework; and Resource-Based Learning that provides opportunities for learners to learn from diverse learning resources. Therefore, digital resource repositories are significant as tools that facilitate English language teaching and learning while promoting the integration of technology with instruction.
