Water Management Model in the Eastern of Thailand to Support the Development Towards the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) 2018-2023

Abstract

            This research article is the result of qualitative research. Data were collected from documents and interviews with 12 key informants.  With the objectives to study water management and stakeholder participation in the Eastern Region of Thailand both policy-bases and area-based from 2018 to 2023,to analyze the problems of water management in the Eastern Region of Thailand to support the Eastern Economic Corridor Project 2018 to 2023, as well as to create recommendations for water management in the Eastern Region of Thailand to support the development towards the Eastern Economic Corridor both policy-bases and area-based from 2018 to 2023. The study results found that Water management and stakeholder participation in Eastern Region of Thailand, Thailand has accepted the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management. Leading to reform of the entire water resource management system. To allow stakeholders to participate more in accordance with the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management. The problem of water management in the Eastern Region of Thailand to support the Eastern Economic Corridor Project of Thailand has two characteristics, both area problems and management problems as well as water management in the Eastern Region of Thailand to support development into the Eastern Economic Corridor both policy-based and area-based from 2018 to 2023, in other words 1) policy-oriented water management It is project management to study the preparation of a master plan for the development and management of water resources in the Eastern Region in order to obtain guidelines for the management of 4 main river basins. 2) area-oriented water management, the government sector places importance on implementing water resource development projects in various forms to develop water sources and build confidence among citizens, entrepreneurs, and farmers that the Eastern Economic Corridor Development area will have sufficient water to meet their needs. The Thai Government must plan to deal with water shortages. and the amount of water is still sufficient for the needs of the population.
