Abstract

This academic article examines the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and effective leadership in contemporary organizational contexts characterized by continuous complexity and volatility. It integrates key conceptual frameworks from Salovey and Mayer, who established the scientific foundation of EI; Goleman, who popularized the concept and connected it to leadership performance; Bar-On, who developed the EQ-i model; and George, who analyzed the role of emotions in team leadership processes. Findings indicate that leaders with high emotional intelligence consistently generate superior organizational performance, employee engagement, and positive organizational cultures compared to leaders who possess only high technical competence or IQ. The article proposes practical guidelines for developing emotional intelligence across all leadership levels within Thai organizations during an era in which change is constant and the skilled management of human relationships has become an indispensable core competency for organizational survival and growth.
