This academic article examines the relationship between mindfulness practice as understood within Theravada Buddhism and its application within contemporary psychology, with the aim of presenting an integrative framework for promoting mental health in the context of the fast-paced, high-pressure society of the twenty-first century. The article integrates key Buddhist teachings, particularly the Satipatthana (Four Foundations of Mindfulness), with contemporary psychological frameworks including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction by Kabat-Zinn, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy by Segal, Williams, and Teasdale, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy by Hayes, and the Self-Compassion framework by Neff. Findings indicate that integrating Buddhist wisdom with modern psychology creates a mental health care framework that is both comprehensive and deeply appropriate for the Thai cultural context. The article proposes practical guidelines for mental health practitioners, educators, and individuals interested in applying mindfulness to promote well-being for themselves and others.
