This experimental study aimed to: (1) examine the relationship between personality types based on the William Moulton Marston DISC theory and group activity behaviors among students of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University; (2) analyze the effects of DISC personality types on the effectiveness and satisfaction of group activities; and (3) propose guidelines for enhancing group activity performance by considering DISC personality traits. The research was conducted at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Wang Noi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Thailand. The sample consisted of 12 monastic and lay students selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included: (1) a DISC personality assessment, (2) a group behavior observation form, and (3) a self-assessment questionnaire. Data were analyzed using basic statistics, including percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The findings revealed that each personality type played a distinct role in group activities. The D (Dominance) type demonstrated leadership and a strong focus on outcomes. The I (Influence) type showed strong abilities in communication, motivation, and inspiring team members, contributing to the fastest achievement of group goals. The S (Steadiness) type emphasized relationships and team support, while the C (Conscientiousness) type focused on analytical thinking and systematic work processes. The knowledge gained from this study provides in-depth insights into group dynamics and can be applied to the design of learning activities that account for personality diversity. This, in turn, can enhance team effectiveness and collaborative performance.
