The Relationship Between Job Crafting and Innovative Work Behavior of Public Sector Employees in Bangkok
Keywords:
Job Crafting, Innovative Work Behavior, Public sector employeesAbstract
This research aimed to: (1) examine the levels of job crafting and innovative work behavior, and (2) determine the relationship between job crafting and innovative work behavior among public sector employees in Bangkok. The sample consisted of 288 employees from a public organization located in the Dusit district of Bangkok. The sample size was determined using Taro Yamane’s formula, and participants were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire on job crafting and innovative work behavior. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.
The findings revealed that (1) the overall levels of job crafting ( = 4.09) and innovative work behavior (
= 4.08) among the respondents were high, and (2) job crafting had a moderate positive relationship with innovative work behavior at the .01 level of significance (r = .626, p < .01). Notably, increasing challenging job demands showed the strongest correlation with innovative work behavior (r = .591, p < .01). Based on these results, public sector organizations should grant employees autonomy to undertake challenging tasks, as this serves as a key driver of innovative work behavior within the workplace.
