BOOK REVIEW “Intangible Cultural Heritage into Classroom”

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to introduce the textbook named, “Intangible Cultural Heritage into Classroom”, written by the Academic and Educational Standards Bureau, under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. The book is based on knowledge from Bringing Living Heritage to the Classroom in Asia-Pacific: A Resource Kit and integrates this knowledge into the context of Thailand. The book presents content on intangible cultural heritage and its integration into learning management. It is divided into five chapters, starting with an introduction to intangible cultural heritage in both global and Thai contexts. The book then explores contemporary learning management concepts related to integrating intangible cultural heritage into education. It goes on to propose methods for managing learning using intangible cultural heritage, along with examples of actual practices and lesson plans from teachers in Thailand and Laos. However, the book lacks coverage on the roles of parents, community members, school administrators, and policymakers in managing learning that integrates intangible cultural heritage. These aspects could be further developed in future editions to create a more comprehensive resource.
