Publication Ethics
The ICON International Journal of Management is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct throughout the publication process. The journal adheres to the principles of transparency, academic integrity, and ethical responsibility for all parties involved: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
- Responsibilities of Authors
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their submissions are original and properly cite all sources. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is unacceptable and will result in rejection or retraction.
- Authorship: Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors must agree to the manuscript submission and the final version of the paper.
- Data Integrity: Authors must ensure the accuracy and reliability of their data. Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data constitutes unethical behavior.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.
- Multiple Submissions: Manuscripts must not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously. Duplicate publication is strictly prohibited.
- Responsibilities of Editors
- Fair Decision-Making: Editors will evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance, without discrimination based on race, gender, institutional affiliation, or political views.
- Confidentiality: Editors will maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related communications.
- Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling a manuscript if a conflict of interest exists with the author(s) or content.
- Corrective Measures: Editors are responsible for issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern if significant errors or ethical violations are discovered after publication.
- Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Confidentiality: Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents and not shared or discussed with others outside the review process.
- Objectivity: Reviewers must provide constructive and unbiased feedback. Personal criticism is not acceptable.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and notify the editor of any potential ethical issues.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review a manuscript if they have a personal or professional conflict with the author(s) or institution.
- Publisher’s Responsibilities
- The publisher, in collaboration with the editorial board, will ensure that all journal policies support ethical publishing and follow best practices set forth by recognized standards such as those of COPE.
- The publisher will work to correct any ethical breaches, support transparency, and provide a platform for academic dialogue and responsible scholarship.
- Handling Misconduct
The journal takes research misconduct seriously. Suspected violations of publication ethics (e.g., plagiarism, data falsification, ghost authorship) will be investigated. If confirmed, the manuscript may be retracted, and appropriate actions will be taken, including notifying authors’ institutions.
