Applying Samma-vaca to Benefit Organizations

Abstract

This research article is a qualitative study through document analysis, aimed at applying right speech (samma-vaca) to benefit organizations. The research findings indicate that an organization is a group of people who come together to work towards achieving the organization's common goals. For members of an organization to effectively achieve these goals, understanding communication is essential, particularly the use of right speech to maximize the well-being of people within the organization. Applying right speech for the benefit of the organization requires the appropriate use of both science and art. In the scientific aspect of right speech, this includes: 1) Refraining from lying 2) Refraining from divisive speech 3) Refraining from harsh speech 4) Refraining from idle chatter. In the artistic aspect of right speech, this includes: 1) Speaking truthfully 2) Speaking in a pleasant and gentle manner 3) Speaking what is beneficial or harmless in the long term 4) Speaking appropriately according to time and place 5) Right speech that combines complete science and art inevitably leads to non-harm and the well-being of people within the organization.
