Criteria for Determining Adequacy for Making Decisions to Purchase High-Value Weapons Systems

Abstract

This academic article aims to investigate the criteria for determining adequacy for making decisions to purchase high-value weapons systems. The study found that the criteria for adequacy can be used as a decision-making criterion for purchasing high-value weapons systems. However, its application should consider appropriateness in various contexts, aiming for the development of the quality of life for people in line with moderate postmodern philosophical principles. Moderate Postmodern criteria emphasize balance in the development of quality of life through rational and logical thinking. For instance, if considering purchasing stealth aircraft, one must examine whether there is sufficient budget allocation. Additionally, whether purchasing it would compromise funding for other developmental projects in the country. Other considerations include the availability of trained pilots, suitable facilities for maintenance, and whether the purchase aligns with the current situation of the country. Furthermore, the benefits derived from the purchase, such as its functionality and its potential to improve the quality of life for people in the country, should be thoroughly evaluated. Once the adequacy criteria are met, it's essential to engage in democratic deliberation with others through creative adaptation, collaboration, and seeking consensus. This process helps ensure that decisions are made with sound reasoning, fairness, and for the genuine development of the quality of life.
