Driving the IDG Leadership Network in Thailand: An Analytical Study and Recommendations of Somphol Chaisiriroj

This academic article analyzes and synthesizes approaches to driving the Inner Development Goals (IDG) leadership network in Thailand, drawing on a case study of the perspectives and experiences of Somphol Chaisiriroj (Corporate Advisor) through semi-structured in-depth interviews. The analysis was conducted within the IDG conceptual framework, with particular emphasis on the Being and Relating dimensions, integrated with the Psychology of Selves perspective to illuminate the inner mechanisms shaping leadership within the network.
The analysis revealed that effective network-driving approaches do not rely primarily on organizational expansion or policy design; rather, they are grounded in the quality of being of leaders, operating through three key mechanisms: (1) awareness of inner polarities and self-conflict, (2) acceptance and navigation of diversity within the network, and (3) consistent practice of the walk-the-talk principle. These findings were synthesized into the BALANCE Model, proposed as a process-oriented framework for designing policies and practices to advance IDG leadership networks in the Thai social context. The findings carry significant implications for leadership development initiatives that integrate inner-dimension cultivation with the pursuit of sustainable development goals.
