The The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Future Warfare
Main Article Content
Abstract
Future warfare is likely to take the form of Multidomain Operations (MDO), a modern and highly complex mode of military operations characterized by rapid change, a high demand for speed, and extensive connectivity among devices and command-and-control systems across multiple domains, including land, maritime, air, space, and cyberspace. Such operations rely heavily on automation, integrated networks, and advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).
The military application of AI is not limited solely to emergency situations or wartime operations. Rather, AI can also be effectively employed across a wide range of activities, as national security organizations are tasked with responsibilities in both peacetime and wartime contexts. These responsibilities include force preparedness, management, research and development, and other related functions. In addition, AI can support various non-traditional missions, such as disaster relief and disease control, among others.
Nevertheless, AI remains a relatively new concept within military organizations. Accordingly, this article aims to enhance understanding of AI technologies by examining the current state of AI, exploring approaches to its application within national security institutions, and analyzing the transformations that are likely to occur as AI becomes increasingly integrated into future warfare.
