Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the causes and propose solutions to assignment non-submission among third-year vocational certificate students at Porncharoen Vocational College in the course Cost Calculation for Occupational Work (Course Code 20201-2110) during the second semester of the 2025 academic year (B.E. 2568). The research employed a descriptive design. The sample consisted of five students selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a 15-item questionnaire designed to examine students’ non-submission behaviors, using a ranking scale to identify the priority of causes. Data were analyzed using percentage statistics and presented in tables with descriptive analysis.

The findings revealed that the primary causes of assignment non-submission were: (1) the perceived difficulty of assignments exceeding students’ capabilities, and (2) workload conflicts from other subjects, both reported by 100% of participants as the top-ranked causes. Secondary factors included lack of academic support or guidance (60%) and limited time for task completion (20%). These findings indicate that both learner-related factors and instructional context significantly influence assignment submission behavior. The study highlights the need to redesign instructional approaches to accommodate individual differences, enhance academic support systems, and improve workload management in order to foster responsibility and improve students’ academic performance in vocational education contexts.
