This is more than just physical urban development, but it focuses on potential human resource investments, also known as “human development cities”. Human resources are also linked to other resources within the city. Japan has chosen the 3 F + CI concepts: F1 Festival, F2 Food, F3 Fashion + Creative Economy and Innovation. I hope that this narrative will be more or less useful to all readers and help you think further about urban development.
2024-03-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Sociology and Developmenthttps://so16.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jsdswu/article/view/242Bangkok and Its Multiple Modernities: A Material History of Bangkok in Relation to Commuting Infrastructures2023-12-20T16:51:24+07:00Whisut Vejvarabhornwhisut.v@sac.or.th
Drawing on a survey of urban development in Bangkok, this article discussed postcolonialism by material history in relating to commuting infrastructures and modernity. The paper also argued that Western styled modernity as the urban development has brought about material transformation through a topographical palimpsest process to Bangkok. However, given multiple level at which modernity exists, the concept of modernity must be discussed with plural forms. In this sense, modernity being coalesced in Bangkok is multifaceted and different according to historical contexts and periods. Having considered that Bangkok is affected by multifaceted, multidimensional, non-overlapped and distinctly opposing modernities, a broader approach can be taken for future studies.
2024-03-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Sociology and Developmenthttps://so16.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jsdswu/article/view/233Beyond Greater Bangkok: The Review of Pheu Thai Party’s Urban Development Policies2023-12-07T20:06:40+07:00Pychaniphat Wichainopychaniphat@gmail.com
Urban development has attracted significant attention of researchers to date. Specifically, Bangkok's complicated development which rapidly extended geographic borders has resulted in the city becoming known as “Greater Bangkok”. However, policies on urban development are of central importance to communities during the general election for members of the House of Representatives in 2023. Furthermore, efforts have been made to spread urban development beyond Bangkok through the development of cities, regions, and secondary cities. On this basis, it has been demonstrated that urban development is linked to a range of political domains, as seen by political party’s policies that share the aspect of a collaborative assembly of diverse economic ideologies and societies. This paper explores sociological and urban anthropological perspectives via the case of urban development policy as envisioned by the Pheu Thai Party. To broaden opportunities and foster the establishment of varied cities, this article suggests that urban development should extend beyond Bangkok. Given a digital economy city, urban tourism, and universal design, it is incontrovertible that a digital economy city, an urban tourism, and a universal design contribute to the existence of the center of Greater Bangkok.
2024-03-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Sociology and Developmenthttps://so16.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jsdswu/article/view/383The Roles Integration in Everyday-Life of NCT Fans2024-03-02T17:48:54+07:00Taechin KhumtedTaechin.k@hotmail.comPrakaidown NasuiPrakaidownnasui@gmail.comWeeraseth RewthongWeeraseth.m@gmail.comKrittiya Kantachotekrittiyak@swu.ac.th
Building on a netnography, this article aims to study a.) the roles of NCT boy band’s fans by adopting consumption of sign; and b.) the role integration of the lifestyle of the NCT fans. A total number of 30 online interviewees and 7 group-interview participants were selected from online observation via relating hashtags on Twitters. The obtained findings show how the integration role impacts NCT fans in various facets including their fandom and daily lives. This study also discovers that interaction between artists and fans can be a predictor of consumption and extends its influences on the roles of fans. Moreover, apart from the role integration, Pierre Bourdieu's conceptualization of capital should be taken into consideration since capital is dynamic and related to interaction and roles. Eventually, there are a variety of ways that symbolic activity might lead to roles integration, fan roles, and individual roles.
2024-03-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Sociology and Developmenthttps://so16.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jsdswu/article/view/384ARMY: ARMY: Identity, collective behavior and dynamics of Korean pop boy band BTS’ fan community2024-03-02T19:58:21+07:00Phanarin Sangsri Namphetphanarin275@gmail.comSaichol Panyachitsaicholpa@g.swu.ac.th
Using a qualitative research design, this study seeks to bridge the gaps in current literature by underlying three objectives: a.) to explore the identity of ARMY which is a fan community of BTS Korean pop band b.) to study the BTS fan activism during the COVID-19 pandemic and c.) to study the dynamics of the BTS fans in Thailand. Based on analytic induction, in-depth interviews and observations were systematically conducted. Our results show that ‘code’ and ‘symbol’ are the mutual form of fans’ identity and band’s identity. Moreover, the mode of interactions between the band and fans is eventually changed from offline to online platform due to the pandemic. Furthermore, with the growing number of memberships and the effectiveness of online market channel combined, BTS fans have created a stronger network through online platform.
2024-03-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Sociology and Developmenthttps://so16.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jsdswu/article/view/244Editorial Note2023-12-20T17:34:54+07:00Cholvit Jearajitswusd.journal@gmail.com2024-03-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Sociology and Development
