To establish the identity of Ranong’s local culinary wisdom for community-based tourism. This study employs a qualitative research methodology. The data sources are divided into two categories: documentary sources and individual sources. The documentary sources include relevant concepts, theories, and research studies, while the individual sources consist of four key informants. The criteria for selecting key informants specify that they must reside on Khonthi Island and have at least 30 years of experience in preparing local dishes. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and supplemented by observations and assessments of local culinary competitions. The data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive analysis.

The findings showed that the local dishes of Pak Nam Ranong, such as “Yae Kae” and “Nam Kuey,” are traditional recipes passed down through generations. These dishes reflect a deeply rooted culinary wisdom, shaped over time and intricately linked to the way of life in the community. Local cuisine in this context is more than just food—it serves as a medium to tell the stories and history of the area. For instance, the local dish Yae Kae embodies the harmonious relationship between the community and nature and the simplicity of life. It is distinctive in its unique flavor and preparation methods, characterized by a taste that is not overly salty, setting it apart from similar dishes in other regions.

The local culinary competition, organized as part of the study, effectively served as a platform to establish and communicate the identity of local culinary wisdom. This initiative led to the emergence of dishes like “Lok Oi Yok” as a signature community dish worthy of preservation, promotion, and widespread recognition. The study emphasized the collaborative efforts of the public, private, and government sectors to ensure sustainability. The research suggests that relevant agencies in Ranong Province should leverage these findings to enhance the appeal and uniqueness of the local tourism market. Modern tourists seek “unique experiences,” and showcasing local cuisine with a distinctive identity can provide a competitive edge for community-based tourism. For example, organizing activities where tourists can learn the process of preparing local dishes or interact directly with indigenous ingredients adds value to their travel experiences and leaves a lasting impression.
Nara Phongphanich, กฤษฎา ฉิมพลีวัฒน์ Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Governance and Social Innovation https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so16.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/CLGJournal/article/view/1377 Wed, 19 Mar 2025 00:00:00 +0700 THE PARTICIPATION OF THE PUBLIC ON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLANS OF PHAPAE SUBDISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION, MAE TAENG DISTRICT, CHIANG MAI PROVINCE https://so16.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/CLGJournal/article/view/1268
The purpose of this study was to study the people's participation in the local

development plan of Phapae Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province The sample group used in the study This included 357 people who were domiciled in Phapae Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province Data were collected by using a questionnaire.
